We came here for the first time, in September 2021… and like all those who had the pleasure of spending a few moments there, we literally FELL IN LOVE!

It was in 2019, on our honeymoon, that we were struck by Lunenburg’s charms. Only two days, but enough to know we were going to come back. Although we often say this… when traveling, this time, something told me it would be different.

When the Maritime Bubble reopened, we decided to go back and take more time to discover the Greater Lunenburg Region. It was through searches on the web, that I first heard about Hirtle’s Beach. We spent two afternoons there, I think… enough to fall in love and certainly enough to choose to spend our two weeks June vacation 2022.

A nature enthusiast’s paradise. Categorized as a living beach because the beach moves and shifts at the whim of the ocean. Hirtle’s Beach is ever changing. Here you will find more than three kilometers of white sand, rolling surf, fresh sea air, drumlin cliffs and breathtaking views.

These words, which I read, and obviously forgot about, took on their full meaning, during our amazing trip.

When we arrived the first day… our beloved beach, no longer seemed itself. The high tides had taken our wonderful memories, as the sand seemed to have been replaced by a sea of pebbles. Disappointed, sad, but intrigued and since our cottage was a 20-minutes walk (5 minutes by car), we went back… almost every day!

Each visit brought its own experience. Surprised, amazed and happy to find this beach, always changing and never the same. At low tide, the sandy beach reappeared as big and beautiful, as we remembered. At dusk, to the loud and a bit scary sound of crickets, it offered a surreal and indescribable beauty. The more the days passed, the more we were surprised to see the beach transforming in front of our own eyes.

Yet, that’s exactly what the text said, when I first read it in 2021. Almost a year later, I realize now, that it was, what we lucky to experience while visiting our Hirtle’s Beach… more than ten times this year.

Hirtle’s Beach is a living beach!
