Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 14 – Driftwood & Venetian African Trade Beads – Part 1…

When I started organizing my shell collection, little I knew that I would not only rediscover all these forgotten treasures, I was going to find a bag containing my small collection of glass beads. Almost 30 years ago, I discovered Venetian Millefiori (thousand flowers) pearls. The glass beads, made in Murano in Italy, served as currency in the trades with Africa. A ”Coup de coeur”. I loved the colors, the textures and the story behind the tiny works of art.

I thought it could be interesting to bring together my passions for driftwood and glass beads. I started with the idea of making just one… but I couldn’t help but create… 3 or 4… more!

If you are inspired to create a mobile, you can very well use the beads from a necklace that you no longer wear. Go look for, your forgotten treasures!

Thank you to Pierre Klein – ROUILLE et BOIS for inspiring me, to renew with my passion for Mobiles and for inviting me to share a Mobile Creative Workshop.
