Who knows why… every time I find myself on a beach, I like to make up a new treasure hunt. I was watching the sanderlings, running on the sand through the waves, when I got the idea to create pebble birds. So… that day, I walked in search for bird shaped pebbles.

Last October, near the end of our beautiful fall week at the beach, looking for heart-shaped pebbles (which are rather rare… and yes, I am a romantic!), I came across… a pebble strangely resembling a pear. There was just enough time for one last quest, for pear-shaped pebbles.

Back home, the birds, the pears and all the other ideas were there, but I had to figure out how to drill holes in the stone… which metal wires to use… which glue… So the ideas remained in my head, until Day 12 of my Creative Advent Calendar, when I took on the organizing of all these precious finds in my new Treasure Chest. That’s how I came up my pears and birds pebbles, again.

Inspired by a reclaimed barn wood reindeer, bought a few years ago, I remember this box of old rusty nails, lying around my workshop. It all came together. I had just found the material that would not only make the stems for the pears, but also the beaks and legs of the pebble birds.

These Creative Projects had been on my mind for quite a long time. The were perfect to start my 2023 Creative Venture. A little before the end of the year, I realized it would be stimulating and inspiring to take on the personal challenge of making one Creative Project a week, throughout the year!

What was supposed to be 2 separate projects turned into one. Here are the steps…

The Pear and the Bird!

I haven’t managed yet… to drill holes in my pebbles! A small, but not unimportant detail (for me), which should be solved in the next projects. For now, to go forward and not to get stuck on details, I used some Crazy Glue!

Et voilà!

A pear and a bird… you’ll say? Yes, pebbles, driftwood and old rusty nails. And why not! They found themselves quite naturally on my path, and on a beautiful day of December, in my workshop, they met again!

I wonder if you have noticed? In my creative imagination, a giant pear and a miniature bird can very well land, on a piece of driftwood. My ingenious and engineer husband, noticed it right away! I had not 🙂 Did you ?
