We met Guy Cranston and his beautiful birds, for the first time in June of 2022. We had been invited to the Opening of Sharon Fox Cranston’s 100 Paintings/ 100 days Art Exhbit, at the Artist Studio in Lunenburg. A true ”Coup de coeur”. Later that week, we visited the Cranston Gallery and were struck, by all the very colorful and whimsical birds on display.
Months passed, but the beautiful creatures never left my thoughts. In November, I thought I would ask Guy Cranston to create a bird for my Barry, as a Christmas present. I do have to admit, it was going to be a gift for me as well. That’s how this beautiful story began!
The Making of…

A few weeks before Christmas, I received a message. Louis Lu-I, was ready for his long flight, that would take him all the way from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia… to Saint-Bruno, Québec! It was Love at First Flight!
As I looked at the pictures and read the message, my eyes were filled with tears of joy and gratitude. Louis Lu-I, was the name was chosen by the Artist. Louis was my father’s name, who passed away a month earlier. I like to think the two Louis, must have crossed paths in the sky! I could not have asked for a more beautiful story.
Totally under the spell of Louis Lu-I… I was now hoping that Barry would love him just as much, as I couldn’t wait to tell him how he came to life. My expectations were high and they were more than exceeded! Nothing could have been better, than seeing Barry’s reaction; who fell in love, instantly!
The Welcoming Committee!

It’s me… Louis Lu-I !!!

Thank you Guy and Sharon, for bringing more beauty, art and joy into our home!
