Vacation Decorating… Aime, Imagine, Design at Gisela’s Cottage – Part 1

Those who know me well… won’t be surprised to learn that I have often traveled with a few of my favorite things. Looking back at all the years I stayed in vacation rentals, I really enjoyed adding my personal touch to the decor. Sometimes necessary, but most of the times just to feel at home. No need to say that I was traveling by car. The limit… the size of my car trunk and the back seat. I am sure, there are still American Customs Officers wondering ”Why so much”??? That’s what, one of them blurted out, one day when he saw that I had packed toilet paper and so much stuff, while trying to see if he could find a sink in there!

Times have changed… but not that much! When we rented Gisela’s Cottage last June, we were pleasantly surprised to find that everything had been carefully planned for the most comfortable and relaxing stay. Owners Kim and Rob made sure to think of everything and more. I found that we have a lot of decorative atoms, in addition to having the same IKEA blue tableware! We decided to return for a week in the beginning of October. While I was packing for our trip, I thought it would be fun to bring fall napkins and a few fall motif plastic plates, to create a nice table for our Thanksgiving away from home.

Arrived at the Cottage, I was inspired by the beautiful and interesting objects displayed around the rooms. I got a little carried away and went a bit further than I expected. What was supposed to be a table setting for one dinner, became our table decor for the week. The owners renovated the 230 years old Cape Cod house built in 1791 and took great care in bringing back the original features and character. For three weeks this year, Gisela’s Cottage was our Home away from Home in the Kingsburg Seaside Community and allowed us to recharge and take in the ocean breezes one more time, before our winter.

Gisela’s Cottage

Thank you Kim and Rob for providing more than a great cottage, but an amazing experience we will never forget. You will find out here… that I moved a few pieces during our week, but also, that I took great care of putting them back safely, where they were found.

Since we came back, a lot happen… and I almost forgot that I had set up the table for Thanksgiving, Fall and Halloween… I had to share it before Halloween and Pumpkins will be a thing of the past.

In the next few weeks, I will be sharing the other Table Settings Vignettes variations I created…

So here is Part 1 of 2 of Vacation Decorating with Aime, Imagine, Design!

… and the lovely knitted pumpkins, found in Mahone Bay!

Happy Halloween !!!
